The evolution of Magnadur continues. After building a reputation through melodic death metal, the band is now stepping into darker and more extreme territory with the upcoming EP “Blackened by the Cold”, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.

The four-track EP marks a significant turning point for the project, introducing a stronger blackened death metal influence while maintaining the melodic foundations that have become part of Magnadur's identity.

A major factor behind this new direction is the arrival of Derek Wolfstein, an experienced German metal veteran who joins the project as guitarist and drummer. His aggressive riffing, powerful drumming and deep understanding of extreme metal bring a new level of intensity to the band's sound. The collaboration has opened fresh creative possibilities and pushed the music into heavier and more atmospheric territory.

At the same time, Tomi Perrakoski continues to develop as a vocalist and songwriter. The new material showcases a broader vocal range, stronger performances and a darker emotional expression than previous Magnadur releases. Together, Perrakoski and Wolfstein have created a sound that balances melody, brutality and cinematic atmosphere.

The upcoming EP contains four tracks: “Land of Snow”, “1000 Times Ready”, “Lakes of Finland” and “Deadly Valentine”. Each song explores different shades of the band's evolving sound, ranging from cold Nordic atmospheres and blackened aggression to memorable melodic passages and powerful modern production.

While “Blackened by the Cold” serves as an important standalone release, it is also only the beginning. The EP offers listeners a glimpse of the musical direction that will continue to develop on the next full-length Magnadur album, currently planned for 2027.

With a renewed lineup, a heavier sound and growing artistic ambition, Magnadur is entering a new chapter — one that promises to be darker, stronger and more uncompromising than ever before.

“Blackened by the Cold” will be released worldwide on December 18, 2026 via Metal Madness Studios.
