Twenty years into their career, WHITECHAPEL continue to demonstrate why they remain one of the defining forces in modern deathcore. The American band have unveiled the official music video for “Bedlam,” a ferocious track taken from their latest studio album, Hymns In Dissonance, released through Metal Blade Records.
The new video arrives as the band prepare to celebrate their 20th anniversary with an extensive North American headlining tour, followed by a major European run in early 2027. With a critically acclaimed album, impressive Billboard chart positions and a demanding international touring schedule ahead, WHITECHAPEL are entering another significant chapter in their career.
“Bedlam” – A Dark Chapter from Hymns In Dissonance
“Bedlam” is one of the tracks featured on Hymns In Dissonance, an album that sees WHITECHAPEL embracing an especially dark, aggressive and uncompromising direction.
The band’s latest material explores a heavier and more intense musical territory, combining the brutality that has long defined their sound with the experience and precision developed over nearly two decades.
The song also carries a narrative connection to the fictional world established in the band’s earlier album This Is Exile.
Vocalist Phil Bozeman explains the story behind the track:
“In the album This Is Exile, there was a character ‘Daemon’ [AKA Craig] who is the brother of the cult leader. This song is him admitting his jealousy towards him and defiling his rotting corpse.”
Bozeman further describes the disturbing perspective of the character, who is trapped inside his own dead body, still able to feel and hear everything but unable to move or escape.
The title “Bedlam” refers to chaos, confusion and turmoil – an appropriate description of the atmosphere surrounding the song’s narrative.
The official music video brings this dark concept into a visual setting, offering another look into the world behind Hymns In Dissonance.
Hymns In Dissonance – A Major Career Statement
Released through Metal Blade Records in spring 2026, Hymns In Dissonance finds WHITECHAPEL pushing their sound into darker, deeper and heavier territory.
The album made a strong impression upon release, earning several notable positions on the Billboard charts during its first week:
• #2 – Billboard Current Hard Rock Albums
• #3 – Billboard Independent Label Current Albums
• #4 – Billboard Current Rock Albums
• #7 – Billboard Digital Albums
These chart positions underline the band’s continued commercial presence and their ability to reach audiences across the heavy music landscape.
The critical response has also highlighted the album’s intensity and its connection to the band’s earlier, more aggressive sound.
Revolver praised the title track’s “ground-fissuring blasts,” guitar melodies and powerful mosh sections. Metal Injection described “A Visceral Retch” as relentlessly heavy, while MetalSucks highlighted the record’s raw energy and the experience behind the band’s modern approach.
Other publications have also recognised the album’s musical depth and uncompromising character.
Blabbermouth described the record as “white-knuckle, weaponized deathcore with brains, brawn, and a point to prove.”
Decibel Magazine praised its dynamic and multidimensional approach, while Nine Circles called it one of the densest and darkest albums the group have recorded.
Together, these reactions reflect the impact of an album that embraces the band’s most aggressive instincts while continuing to develop their musical identity.
